"Home to Chicory Lane" by Deborah Raney

Audrey and Grant have raised their family and are ready for a change, a new challenge. They decide to turn their home into a Bed and Breakfast, which is a lot of work but also cause for celebration. Will everything run smoothly, or will there be some glitches?

The kids are grown and out of the house. Now it is time for Audrey and Grant to do some of the things they always wanted to do. They decide that with all the space they have and their location, it would be a good place for a B&B - the Chicory Inn. There is a lot to do, but they are excited to have friends and family come join them for the opening. But, then their daughter Landyn arrives without her husband, but with her things. It has only been six months and her husband has not only lost his job, but has upended their lives. As they embark on this new venture, will Audrey and Grant have the time and wisdom to lead Landyn? Is that marriage repairable? And, what about the Chicory Inn? Will the opening go well or will they have to cancel their plans? You will find the answers to these questions and more in this new heart-warming story by Deborah Raney.

I love the way Deborah Raney writes. Her stories are filled with real life characters and situations. She drew me right in and I found myself rooting for the characters, especially Audrey and Landyn. If you are looking for a heart-warming story that will fill your evening, this book is for you. I received my review copy from Litfuse Publicity Group in exchange for an honest review.

About the book: Landyn longs for home, but her mother may have other plans.
Audrey Whitman's dreams are coming true. Now that their five kids are grown, she and her husband, Grant, are turning their beloved family home into a cozy bed and breakfast just a mile outside of Langhorne, Missouri.
Opening weekend makes Audrey anxious, with family and friends coming from all over to help celebrate the occasion. But when Audrey's daughter, Landyn, arrives, the U-Haul she's pulling makes it clear she's not just here for a few days. Audrey immediately has questions. What happened in New York that sent Landyn running home? Where was Landyn's husband, Chase? And what else was her daughter not telling her? One thing was for sure, the Chicory Inn was off to a rocky start. Can Audrey still realize her dream and at the same time provide the comfort of home her daughter so desperately needs?

About the author: Deborah Raney's books have won numerous awards, including the RITA, National Readers Choice Award, HOLT Medallion, and the Carol Award, and have twice been Christy Award finalists. She and her husband, Ken, recently traded small-town life in Kansas---the setting of many of Deborah's novels---for life in the (relatively) big city of Wichita, where they enjoy gardening, antiquing, movies, and traveling to visit four children and a growing brood of grandchildren who all live much too far away.

Odyssey Adventure Club iPad Mini Giveaway!

The end of summer is in sight, and OAC is giving away an iPad Mini back-to-school bundle!

It might seem like summer just began for your kids, so if they need some added motivation to get their homework done, remind them they can jump on the Odyssey Adventure Club after their papers are written and their math problems are solved.

As members, your kids can also listen to Album 58 before the album is released to the public!

Here's what part one is about (which you can listen to for free HERE):

It's a time of surprises as Wooton becomes the celebrity guest at Comic-Connellsville and Whit finds himself in conflict over the upcoming "Let's Get Together Festival" in Odyssey. Plus, hear an interview with writer-director Paul McCusker about the entire 14-part series.

Album 58 was inspired by Focus on the Family's The Family Project, a 12-session small group experience that explores the theological, philosophical, and cultural underpinnings of the traditional family, and combines that information with inspiring stories and practical tools to help 21st-century families thrive.

Plus, here's a sneak peek of a new episode called "The Lone Lawman"!

Jason, Whit, Red and the gang rustle up herds of fun while performing a new Kids' Radio show set in the Old West. "The Lone Lawman" features a confused boy getting mixed up with a shifty band of bank robbers. Can a hero on horseback set things right? See just how wild the West can get in this action-packed send-up of old-time radio dramas.

NOW . . . on to the iPad Mini back-to-school bundle.

One grand prize winner will receive:
  • An iPad Mini

"NIV: The Journey Bible"

The Bible is a book that should be read and learned from. Are you a spiritual explorer? Do you like to study and learn about Bible truths, people, and places? This may be the Bible for you.

In the new "Journey Bible," readers will find the NIV translation along with Bible helps like: "Knowing Yourself," "Explorer Stories," "Reasons to Believe," "Timelines," and "Addressing Questions." There is also a Dictionary/Concordance right in the Bible, so the study helps are handy. It is a little bulkier than an ordinary Bible, but less so than a Bible with all the extra books to help. Each book also has its own introduction with "The Bottom Line," "Central Ideas," "Outline," and "Timeline."

I have really enjoyed getting into this Bible, taking a good look at the study helps, and finding some really good information. I especially like the questions and answers about Jesus along with the "Defining Moments of the Old and New Testaments." Each Bible reader is different, but if you are a "spiritual explorer," you might want to get to a bookstore and check this one out.
